How long do you want to live? This question can come as a surprise as many don’t think about it. People are just living every subsequent day that comes, taking that continuity for granted. However, when you hit 50 or more, you certainly feel that age matters as a number.

The good news is that you are at least halfway through, and there is still plenty of time to make changes. You do have more years to come and a willingness to take up something new. Read on to learn those essential healthy ways to add years to your life.

EXERCISING

Don’t sigh, please, when you read this word. Exercising doesn’t translate into torturing yourself to do the things your body doesn’t like. Inevitably, as people age, their body becomes lazier and less flexible, but you are the boss, and you can choose. If you have never tried fitness, why not try it with a group of seniors? You can also opt for yoga if you want an exercise to calm both your body and soul. There are many options you can choose from. It is up to your preferences and needs.

Do you remember those days when you promised you would sleep enough when you aged? Well, those days have come! There is no need to feel sad; instead, you can be happy to rest as much as you want. You don’t need to hurry to your job and spend time being stuck in traffic jams. Try to establish a sleeping regime if you haven’t had one. Make sure you go to bed and get up at the same time. Finally, start taking care of your sleeping space. It is advisable to sleep in complete darkness and a cool room. Soundproof windows would be an excellent addition.

VISIT YOUR EYE DOCTOR AND DENTIST REGULARLY

Vision and dental health worsen as people age. Eyes suffer from significantly more workload than they used to in the past. Currently, digital screens hurt the vision while people eat everything they can find and damage their teeth.

However, you shouldn’t be scared as modern healthcare has found many ways to restore what is gone. If you take up a habit of visiting your eye and teeth doctor once in a while—at least twice a year—you will be better off in the long run. Keeping your visual and dental health in check will help you experience this world to the fullest.

MAKE YOUR MENTAL HEALTH A PRIORITY

You may feel that now you react more calmly than you used to. Aging contributes to it a lot; now, you don’t have to worry about small things that would have irritated you in the past. The cornerstone of your mental health is the connections that you make.

Regular health clinics offer essential screenings and interventions crucial for aging women's well-being. These clinics provide tailored preventative care, addressing menopausal symptoms, osteoporosis, cardiovascular risks, and cancer screenings. Early detection and management of health concerns can significantly improve quality of life and longevity, making routine visits invaluable for aging women.

Additionally, incorporating relaxation techniques such as meditation, and mindfulness, or using a LED red light therapy mask can further enhance your mental well-being and promote a sense of calmness and rejuvenation.

Also, don’t forget about socializing, enlarging your network, and experiencing communication with new people. Friends, family members, current and previous colleagues help you stay active and engaged. If you happen to feel a lack of such connections, you should undoubtedly consider assisted living facilities. Such organizations make for an excellent platform to get acquainted with like-minded folks and share many more happy moments to come.

REORGANIZE YOUR DIET

You have heard from everyone and every place about how important a healthy diet is, but have you organized it already in your life? Studies have confirmed that low-calorie intake results in low fat in general and low belly fat in particular. Having your body mass regulated would help prevent all obesity-related diseases, like high blood pressure or type 2 diabetes.

If you happen to have related illnesses already, regulating your diet would keep their development under control. However, seek medical advice to make sure that you give your body everything it needs only in the necessary amounts.

Lastly, you can add more nuts to your diet. These small all-in-one foods contain protein, vitamins, minerals (copper, magnesium, potassium, folate, niacin, and vitamins B6 and E), fiber, and antioxidants. You can also get your daily vitamins with IV treatment. A NAD drip in Baltimore contains vitamins and NAD, a coenzyme that slows down aging and supports cellular health.

NO TO SMOKING AND EXCESSIVE ALCOHOL

There's no need to explain why smoking takes years of your life without asking. Of course, it can be hard to stop doing that. However, you need to choose between years that you can live and be happy and smoking a pack of cigarettes every day. It is never too late to make that decision and exercise your willpower.

If you find it hard, go back to the point about mental health and consult a specialist. Usually, smoking is linked to psychological issues that you will not be able to see without outside help. As for the alcohol intake, just keep it under the healthy level. Some studies confirm that moderate intake, especially of wine, can help you prevent diseases (heart disease, neurological disorders, diabetes, and metabolic syndrome) due to its rich content of polyphenol antioxidants.
