We Are Head Over Heels In Love With Jenna Ortega! What's Next For The 'Wednesday' Star?

by Venus Sanders

Now that Wednesday is one of Netflix’s most popular shows, like ever, actress Jenna Ortega could be worth millions—and she is. At the tender age of 20, Jenna has been climbing the career ladder, from roles dated as far back as 2013 where she appeared in films such as Iron Man 3 and Insidious: Chapter 2 playing Annie.

I am like a proud mom watching their child grow considering I’ve been following her career since forever. She is a force to be reckoned with and as a longtime fan of Tim Burton himself, I cannot wait to see her added to the dynamic trio—The Burton Crew as I call them. Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter…and now, of course, Jenna—making them a dynamic foursome. If you know, you know!

With social media being as popular as it is it’s no secret that since the release of Wednesday and the increase in social status Jenna will soon be raking in millions per sponsored post on various platforms. If you remember, Jenna also starred in the hit TV show You which also streams on Netflix. So, all in all, she’s no stranger to streaming and even hit the big screen recently for her role in Scream.

While the actual number for what Jenna earned for her role as Wednesday has not been publicly confirmed, it’s safe to say that she collected a hefty amount. Where the stars of Stranger Things—seasons 1 and 2 saw about $30,000/per episode, an actress with a resume like Jenna’s most likely tripled or double that. The star is well on her way to creating more amazing content and we simply cannot wait. Even if the content is merely a commercial or a sponsored post via Instagram, we’ll take it.

Did you know in just 10 days her Instagram account garnered an additional 10 million followers? But Jenna had this to say concerning her Instagram account via her interview with The Face, “I have to look at my social media as a business platform because I think it’s unhealthy for everyone involved. I’d hate to be married to it. I don’t want to be worried about what I look like on there, or how people perceive me on there. It’s just work! It’s just work posts. I’ll talk about whatever and then people can look at me as an actor, not an influencer and I can focus on that.”

We love her take on it and agree wholeheartedly. It’s a great way to keep business and personal separate despite living in a generation where almost everyone is so easily accessible. I think with a mindset like this her career will be longstanding.

As for what’s next? Jenna has four projects in the works including her reprised role as Tara Carpenter in Scream 6 set to release in 2023; and with Neve Campbell stepping down as the Final Girl, perhaps Jenna will rise to the occasion. Well, given her new A+ celeb status this could be good in theory.

As for the role that made her a household name, well, season 2 has not been formally announced but we do know that plans are underway, with Jenna herself stating, “I kind of want her to be darker. I wouldn’t want Wednesday to play things too safe.” Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, "There are a lot of lines about her saving the school and doing whatever, but for me, her main drive with the monster is of a competitiveness," Jenna said. "Kind of, 'Man, how's this guy doing this?' I think I want it to continue down an antihero stream rather than a typical hero."
