Nicki Minaj's Cryptic Tweet Sparks Speculation Amidst Groundbreaking World Tour

Rapper Nicki Minaj posted a cryptic tweet on June 10, 2024: “Yes. Single…” While Nicki Minaj is most known for her animated personality and multiple personas, this one seems personal. Minaj, currently on a world tour, is experiencing some groundbreaking achievements, but it may come as no surprise that with greatness comes conflict—in some cases.
According to People Magazine’s relationship timeline, “Minaj and husband Kenneth ‘Zoo’ Petty met when she was just a teenager. The pair first crossed paths when they were students at the same high school. The two lost touch for years before reconnecting in 2018, leading to a whirlwind romance. Petty and Minaj wed in 2019 and welcomed a son in 2020.”
Throughout the duration of their marriage the pair has made numerous headlines for Minaj allegedly paying off the Petty’s rape victim Jennifer Hough. In court documents obtained by She’s SINGLE Magazine, the plaintiff (Hough) was seeking damages against the defendant (Petty) for the infliction of emotional distress, negligent infliction of emotional distress, assault and battery. Plaintiff alleges that in 1994, when she was sixteen years old, the defendant sexually assaulted her at knifepoint.
The Plaintiff immediately reported the rape to the police and the defendant was immediately arrested. On September 21, 1994, Petty was indicted in Queens County Supreme Court on five counts: Rape in the First Degree, Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment in the Second Degree, Assault in the Second Degree, and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree. Needless to say, Minaj has spent some time having to deal with the ramifications of his past, now during her reign as one of the greatest female hip hop artists alive.
Despite her unwavering support for her husband, Minaj is now generating buzz among fans and spectators alike, as many are questioning whether the couple is headed for a divorce. Since the release of her latest project, 'Pink Friday 2', tracks such as 'Pink Birthday' and 'Let Me Calm Down' have sparked rumors of their troubled relationship.

Some fans point out that her explicit sexual lyrics in 'Pink Birthday' suggest she felt the need to overcompensate in her marriage. For listeners such as myself, the lyrics in the latter song, “Pull off and I almost hit him | He actin’ like I ain’t always with him | My heart sayin’ I love him while I’m screamin’ that I hate him | And ain’t no more debatin’, this time, it’s an ultimatum” hint at more problems in their union than the couple has let on.
In Berlin, during the 'Pink Friday 2' tour, Minaj said, “I’d rather be not with some person that’s in my face all day that’s having a sneaky life behind my back. And if you’ve ever felt loved and then left, live because there’s something way more beautiful waiting in store for you.” Fans have also noticed that Minaj no longer posts pictures of her husband on her Instagram account and no longer addresses herself as Sleeze.
All in all, we’re rooting for Minaj—always have and always will. Enduring a divorce (if that’s the case here) while parenting and being a full-time artist is by no means an easy feat. We wish Minaj the best as she continues to break records and dominate the hip-hop genre.
