How Many Pieces of Jewelry Should You Wear at One Time

by Samara Morris

When we think of jewelry, we think of something shiny, special and glamorous! Its ornaments such as necklaces, spinning rings from Ideaure, or bracelets, which are typically made from precious metal can bring out any outfit. But how much do you need to stand out? It’s no doubt that many believe in the less is more approach.

However, jewelry stacking has become quite popular in the last year or so, with more and more celebs and public figures layering their necklaces and even in some cases, adding a ring to each finger. Forever 21 is my go-to place for rings because they are affordable, chic and perfect for layering. Once you have your ring size you can shop online or in stores.

How much jewelry you should wear simply comes down to your personal style: Decora, Free Spirit, Skater, Baddie.

DECORA STYLE:

This jewelry style is a bit easier to spot with its bulky and colorful look. Think of stacked beads or crystal rings and webbed jewelry maybe around the ankle or wrists. These are usually pretty heavy to wear, but if coupled with the right look can be fantastic. When I think of this style, I think of Jojo Siwa. Her look is super animated-big bows for the hair, colorful jackets, and beads. This is a great style and one we love! In this case, your personality will no doubt shine through. If you love colors, then no amount is too much. Just remember to keep your look minimalistic so your appearance won’t look too cluttered.

FREE SPIRIT:

It’s giving Coachella. We’re going for a new age, flower child, and freethinking appearance with the free spirit look. So how can you accomplish this? Don’t overthink it. The best thing you can do is go with a look you like and flaunt it to the best of your ability. Remember, free spirit means doing what you want and not what everyone else likes. You can go over the top or tone it down and still be you.

*Shameless Plug* If you're in the mood to splurge a little this holiday season, don't forget to add the Christina Malle Leaf Bracelet to the list. The bracelet is made by hand in NYC and part of the Flora Collection in Fairmined gold. A personal favorite.

SKATER:

We immediately think of a punk rock look or goth – super amazing! Many celebs have admitted to being a bit of a tomboy which is where we would categorize this look. It’s very minimal jewelry maybe a skinny bracelet and one ring to complete your baggy fit.

So which of your favorite celebs have admitted to being tomboys? Janet Jackson, Megan Fox, Fergie, Rihanna, Kristen Stewart, Emily Blunt and even Paris Hilton. But just because you’re a tomboy doesn’t mean you can’t spice up your look once in a while, which is exactly what these girlies tend to do. If you fall into the skater category, just know that less is more for a complete look.

BADDIE:

If you’re a lover of all things shiny and the ultimate girly girl then this is for you. Immediately we think of one Kylie Jenner. Kylie is infamous for layering her rings and rocking her ever-so-expensive Cartier bracelets. We’ve gathered some alternatives below from amazon.com to help you achieve the same look for far less. If you’re in the baddie category, remember this, there is no such thing as too much jewelry in this case, but the smaller, more dainty looks are always going to be your best friend. These smaller necklaces, rings, etc. are far more appealing and go well with the feminine persona.
